Vgonstitution. Report on a meeting held at Giesing 2 March 82 Present: Karine Skinner Paul Daniels Stuart Newby Coleen Daniels Jeff Drew Dieter Spalk Roger Houghton Jane Tinker Angelica Roll Bernard Kaempf Mike Turner Geoff Harries John Dite The purpose of the meeting was to bring together members of the Stammtisch which had been meeting at the Tolzer Stube, Arnulf Str. under the name of Young People's Group, Deutsch-Englische Gesell- shaft. This latter club has decided to meet elsewhere and as we had decided to continue as before it was felt to be necessary to form what is essentially a new club, with a new name and a new Background The meeting was opened by Geoff, one of the few surviving members of the old DEG committee. He gave the background of the DEG and described the events leading up to the present split. Draft constitution ‘ Roger then read out a rough draft describing the Aims, Activities and Constitution of the proposed new club, which he had prepared. This was generally discussed and modified and is included as Appendix A. Call for committee candidates Geoff then described the internal running of the DEG and described what the duties of a committee member had been. The above named members were then individually asked if they were willing to stand for election. All agreed except Coleen and Dieter. The election It was then decided that the election would take place on the l2 March 82, as had already been published in a previous DEG notice. An announcement will be made on the 5 March confirming this to the club and calling for any last minute candidates. As to the election, it was decided that anyone entering the Tblzer Stube on the evening of the 12 March would be handed a ballot paper showing the candidates and asked to put a X against lo names. This paper will then be immediately placed in a convenient ballot box. Polling will close at 10pm. Everyone voting will be asked to sign a voting register. A treasurer It was then pointed out that the DEG was holding about DM700.- which represented the surplus on our combined Fasching party. It had previously been agreed that 80% belonged to us. It was felt that this sum should be collected as soon as possible, at all events before the DEG annual general meeting on the lo March. We then proposed Stuart as our provisional Treasurer and he accepted. A letter, signed by 10 of the members present was given to him authorizing him to collect any monies due. Name After much discussion the name'German—English Association’ (GEA) was decided as the new name of our club. To this will be added ‘Young People's Group in Munich’.
