Sorry If You May Think It Elitist / Intolerant / Brusque whatever, but:
   - I have No free time.
   - There's an Awful lot of people on the Internet who
     don't have much of a clue, & I get an awful lot more exposure
     to a lot of people than I can personally help or educate.
     They need to read & learn, join a self help group, purchase 
     training courses, or use/ purchase corporate support.
   - Some minority think they have a right to an equal & opposite
     opinion on computer things, sometimes starting with an argument
     about HTML or Word docs etc: They're welcome to confine their
     opinions until they've checked RFCs etc to substantiate claims.
   - My background is a University degree in Computers & Cybernetics,
     & 25+ years in systems engineering, Unix, & Internet systems
     etc. I'm on many computer technicly competent mail lists, &
     also run lists including some people self described as clueless.
     It's no insult, doesn't mean stupid, just clueless.  I actual
     admire those people for admitting they're clueless.  (I'm
     probably equally clueless in some areas they're proficient).
     It's half baked over asserted opinions I have no respect for.
     I know both people much more knowledgeable than me on computer
     technical issues, & a lot of others much less knowledgeable.
   - Those who refuse or claim to have no time to read manuals, learn,
     etc. have by definition uninformed opinions of less worth &
     interest than those prepared to research, study manuals, RFCs, books etc.
   - If I was unhelpful, I'd not have written all my standard replies
     at http://berklix.com/jhs/std/ & my numerous web help pages,
     nor provided my public servers & facilities at http://berklix.org 
     all unpaid work.
   - I give more of my time for free already than I can afford,
     & more than many others, but still get burdened with requests
     to "Just do me a favour and ..." & "Surely you can't be That
     busy, & I'm really too lazy/ dumb/ busy myself, [so you do it
     free for me & waste your time instead]."
   - Sorry, I'm not a free help desk. My time is Not free to educate
     help or explain, & yes I really do have too many friends to
     treat them all as special cases to help. (is that good or bad
     ? :-) Demands on my time are manifold, but no one wants to Pay
     to consume my time for their benefit.  If you want to spend
     my time on something you want, Either use my free standard
     replies, free help pages, free mail subscription pages & free
     ski booking form, or Pay for my consultancy time at commercial
     rates.  I have No free time for those asking.  What free time
     I have goes to improving general infrastructure to benefit
     all, not supporting individuals who won't learn, or claim not
     to have time to learn, & want to consume my time instead of
     their own.

Yes doubtless the above could be phrased better. That would cost Time :-)
