Long ago, .... once a month or so, GEA invited people to bring books, & then GEA now Sells ! them for a low price to people same night to raise club funds. Sometimes books left over go in the cupboard.
(One recent committee member this 21st century seemed to think this was a new idea, not so, & I rather regret they Sell them, not continue Giving them: About 10/ 15 years back I was taking piles of books down, & leaving them in an upturned smokey perspex record player lid/cover, with a sign marked "Free Books but do Not take the box!" Sometimes others gave me books to put in box or brought their own to put in box. Alistair has since given me a few piles of books to give away, which I have individually given on free. Probably before my perspex box, people were bringing books to give away periodically, just not quite as organised, sharing books is hardly a new idea .
