This is a list of GEA Annual Events. Most events happen most
years.

January
- New Year's Skiing trip.
- New Year's walk.

February
- Fasching
- Fasching ends on a Tuesday (in Feb ?), probably
English Shrove Tuesday = Pancake day, what Americans call
fat Tuesday. Munich don't go to the extent of Venice with
masks. Just lots of fancy dress at parties (fun for a few
years, then a yawn). I seem to recall street traders here
do something in Viktualien- Markt that morning, to also
celebrate end of plague centuries back. (Unless I'm
getting events confused). Sometimes some of us go to
watch it, armed with plastic cups & bottles of Sekt.

- Club Anniversary Meal
- St Patricks Day - The Munich Irish clubs (a dozen or
so) celebrate, & the GEA often participates too in
some form.

- May Day bike ride /jazz
Biergarten visit Julian for cycle group, Alexandra in
2008 for B.G.
- Ascension (*) Day mountain walk/Herzogstand near
Walchensee - Roger H. (*) I'm not sure but think
Ascension is 39 days after Easter
- Camping trip (May-June) - Camping has become less
frequent & more intermittent, Ask Richard G.

- Andechs - "pilgrimage" hike

- (Sailing) Boat Race / Chiemsee - Richard G.
- American "Little Oktober-fest"
- Julian cycle group to Hanzi's Sat. B.day BBQ (June 29
in 2008)

July
- 4th: Usually some Americans in GEA circles, eg
sometime Eleanor Ammermann arrange a Beer Garden around
their Independence Day, as it's been about 300 years,
even us Brits are welcome ;-)
- Kaltenberg / medieval festival
- "Sports Day" / Englischer Garten
- River (Isar) Float / barbeque - ( Hasn't happened
lately, as a listed event, but still happens among GEA
circles unofficially sometime during the summer - (ask
Jane C. at a Beergarden)
- Barbeque (July-August) on Isar, used to be near rail
bridge south of Thalkirchen - The ex regular volunteer
would appreciate a replacement, or will restart in a few
years time - personal reasons.

Surfing Trip: Julian (but not fixed date on program
as weather dependent)
- Visit an air show of old planes, usually with Julian:
